Abstract

The books of Sufi authorities and sects have provided a suitable context for the legitimization process in terms of presenting a superhuman image of Sufi sheikhs and they try to represent the image of Sufi sheikhs as social activists by relying on the persuasive power of language on the one hand and aligning them with the Prophet's character on the other. In this research, we aim to based on Theo van Leeuwen's critical discourse analysis approach, we will descriptively and analytically examine the methods of legitimizing the "old man's character" and its connection with the dominant discourse of the "biography of the Prophet" in the two works of Asrar al-Tawhid and Moghamat Zhandeh Pil.
The results of the research show that the legitimization of the "old man's character" in the "Life of the Prophet"in two works is presented in the form of general categories:mythological narration, moral valuation (analogy), and validation.Similarly, sub-categories have been presented as:attributed miracles, adherence to the traditions of the Prophet, lineage of the path (wearing a robe), archetype of action, etc.In a more general conclusion,it shows that the Secrets of Monotheism are more successful in creating the legitimate image of Abu Sa'id Abu al-Khair than the ragged officials and the image of Sheikh AhmadJam.Because the central character of the work has the capacity for such representation and the author, with his skills, has transformed the themes of the Prophet's life into lived and emotional experiences and he tries to take full advantage of all the mechanisms attributed to the Prophet's life.
