. This method tries to examine the texts with a detailed and comprehensive look. The current research has investigated the concept of (power) in the tragedy of Antigone based on Fairclough's discourse theory with descriptive analytical method. Linguistic and discourse studies conducted in this field show that power as a dominant discourse has affected the external and internal structure of this tragedy. In this analysis, according to three levels, interpretation and explanation, it was found that at the level of description, according to the power relations in the two opposing poles of the ruler and the ruled, the words, verb tenses, turn-taking system, and the tone of speech have a hierarchical structure. . At the level of interpretation, the discourse (centralized power) has naturalized power bproposing components such as establishing order and security, maintaining the law, and protecting the homeland, and marginalized the micro-discourses and prepared the ground for the consolidation of the macro-discourse of power. At the level of explanation as a social process, factors such as the transition from the old system to the new, the confrontation between the monarchy and democracy, the confrontation between men and women in the patriarchal system, have been the basis for the formation of this tragedy; In fact, the dominant discourse has been able to move the atmosphere towards tragedy by transferring the punishment from a superior person to an inferior one, and in this way shows its work.
